Sanya Malhotra Forays into Wellness Industry with Launch of Matcha Brand ‘Bree’ in Partnership with Essenzaa Nutrition

Bollywood actor Sanya Malhotra has made her entrepreneurial debut in the fast-growing wellness sector with the launch of ‘Bree’, a matcha-based functional beverage brand developed in collaboration with Essenzaa Nutrition.

The move marks a strategic shift for Malhotra, known for her roles in Dangal and Pagglait, as she transitions from screen to business, channeling her personal health journey into a brand aimed at India’s rising tribe of wellness-conscious consumers.

“Coffee made me restless and anxious. Discovering matcha changed everything for me,” Malhotra shared, explaining her decision to not only endorse but also invest in the brand. Her involvement goes beyond branding, with active participation in product development underscoring her commitment to Bree’s vision.

Essenzaa Nutrition co-founder Siddharth Shah highlighted the category’s potential, citing that India’s matcha market — currently estimated at ₹450 crore — is expected to nearly double to ₹850 crore over the next five years. “Matcha has the potential to become as common in Indian kitchens as staples like salt and sugar,” Shah said.

To fuel its initial growth, Bree has secured ₹1 crore in pre-seed funding from a group of early-stage investors, positioning itself within the premium wellness beverage space. The brand is designed for consumers seeking a healthier, long-lasting energy source, moving away from traditional caffeine-heavy options.

Malhotra emphasized that Bree is more than a wellness drink; it's about reshaping daily habits. “We’re creating Bree for people who want a healthier rhythm to their lives. For me, matcha isn’t a trend — it’s a lifestyle,” she said.

With this venture, Sanya Malhotra joins a growing league of Indian celebrities turning entrepreneurs in the health and wellness domain, leveraging their influence to tap into India’s booming lifestyle transformation movement.
