Kerala: Munnar to get first hygienic street food hub

Munnar, a popular hill station, is getting ready to open Kerala's very first clean street food hub. This special place will offer tasty and safe street food for both locals and the many tourists who visit Munnar. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is providing ₹1 crore to make this project happen.

The FSSAI wants to create 100 street food hubs all over the country. Munnar is one of the first places chosen for this project because lots of tourists come here from different parts of the world. This street food hub will be a clean and modern spot where people can enjoy their favorite street food without any worries.

The money given by FSSAI will be used to create important things like clean bathrooms, places to throw away trash, comfortable chairs to sit on, good lighting, and shelters from the weather. Local government groups will also help by setting up food stalls and charging vendors rent, which will help the hub stay running.

A special committee made up of important people will oversee how the street food hub works. This committee includes people like the Health Secretary, the head of the Local Self-Government Department (LSGD), the Tourism Secretary, and others who make sure everything is safe and clean.

One person who runs a street food shop in Munnar says that people will really enjoy coming to this hub if the food is delicious and safe to eat. The Munnar Grama Panchayat, which takes care of the area, has already found a good place to put the street food hub. They are planning to start with around 20 food stalls.

For the many tourists who come to Munnar every day, having clean and tasty food available is really important. This new street food hub will offer a variety of yummy dishes, making sure that visitors can enjoy their meals without any worries.
