Lucky Restaurant in Ahmedabad, where life and death converge at your table!

If you are requested to eat and drink while seated close to the graves, you may feel uneasy for a while; nonetheless, a tea shop in Ahmedabad has a setup similar to this one, and people visit the cemetery to sip tea.

Lucky Tea Stall located at Lal Darwaza, Ahmedabad is running since 72 years. This tea store has emerged inside the tranquil grounds of a cemetery, in an unexpected twist that mixes the realms of life and death. As baffling as it may sound, this out-of-the-ordinary institution has piqued the interest of both locals and visitors. With customers eating and drinking tea in the presence of the deceased, one has to wonder about the motivation behind such an unusual venture.

Local custom has it that when the plague struck Ahmedabad, one Syed Saheb Qadri, better known as Pir Baba, let the impoverished to bury their dead on this desolate land that he owned. Ramrai Shetty is the current owner of the café. One of his ancestors had been looking for property to build a little restaurant six decades prior. He sought the lineage of Pir Baba. They consented under the condition that the tombs be left alone. There was a little tea shop put up. At that time, the burials were off to the side. As the number of clients expanded, the tea shop evolved into a restaurant. The tombs soon became a natural element of the Shetty family’s décor as they soon acquired ownership of the cemetery. Fortunately for the Shettys, it also developed into a kind of tourist destination. “Because it was such an odd location, more people began stopping by the café. According to Shetty’s relatives, the burials were lucky for us.

The restaurant's owner, Krishna Kutty, purchased this land in Ahmedabad, but he was not aware that it was a graveyard, according to the viral video. When he learned of this, he did not alter his original intention to construct the restaurant, though. The owner of the cemeteries has created seating places around the graves in the available space, leaving the graves unattended save from surrounding them with iron bars.

The statement said, "The team cleans every grave and accents it with new flowers every morning. The location steadily expanded and rose to the top of the list of popular tourist destinations in the city. The inscription continued, “Respect the dead, as you respect the living.” An Instagram user commented on the video with the following statement: “People may think it’s a great idea, but that’s my point of view.” This is definitely the strangest. Respecting the deceased does not permit eating and drinking next to a grave. Another commenter said: “I’ve been here a lot; it’s simply another hotel; nothing remarkable. Even burials are overlooked.
