96 Kilos of Rotten Meat Seized from Hyderabad Restaurant; Food Safety Violations Detected

Hyderabad: A state-level food safety task force has flagged serious hygiene violations at Hotel Tulips Grand in Turkayamjal, a locality in southern Hyderabad. During an inspection on March 21, 2025, officials uncovered and discarded a significant quantity of spoiled food items, raising major concerns about food safety practices at the establishment.
Spoiled Food Items and Storage Issues
Food safety officials found and destroyed 96 kilos of rotten meat stored in the restaurant’s cold room, which had been left unattended for a prolonged period. Additionally, they seized 10 packets of expired mushrooms and ice cream infested with insects, valued at ₹2,500. Contaminated poppy seeds were also discovered in the restaurant’s storage area.
Severe Hygiene Lapses
Apart from unsafe food storage, the inspection team highlighted unsanitary conditions in the kitchen and storage spaces. Some of the key issues noted during the inspection include:

Following the inspection, officials discarded the spoiled food items and issued strict warnings to the management of Hotel Tulips Grand. Further action may be taken based on follow-up inspections.
