'Breaking Bread' by Zomato: A captivating chat show series for the restaurant industry

Zomato has recently launched a new chat show series called "Zomato Breaking Bread," which is hosted by their Founder & CEO, Deepinder Goyal. In this series, Deepinder interviews various restaurateurs at the Zomato Headquarters, discussing different aspects of the restaurant business. The show covers topics like the challenges faced by restaurateurs, their personal journeys as entrepreneurs, and exciting culinary innovations.

The first episode of the series has been released on Zomato's official YouTube channel. It features Zorawar Kalra, the Managing Director of Massive Restaurants, which includes popular establishments like Farzi Cafe, Louis Burger, and Pa Pa Ya. Zorawar Kalra, who is the son of the renowned restaurateur Jiggs Kalra and also hosted the fifth season of MasterChef India, shares his insights and experiences in the episode.

In the episode, Zorawar Kalra shares his story of getting into the restaurant business. He recalls that when he was around 12 or 13 years old, he made up his mind to be a part of the restaurant industry in some capacity. He talks about his deep love for Indian cuisine and how he feels it is important to spread our culture by showcasing our food to the world. Zorawar also mentions his new venture, Farzi Cafe, which he recently launched in the USA.

During the conversation, Zorawar Kalra talks about his decision to expand his restaurant business into the delivery sector. He shares that he has always been a burger lover but struggled to find a good burger. This inspired him to create a restaurant centered around burgers, but he never thought of it as a viable option until the idea of a delivery kitchen came up. He expresses his appreciation for food ordering and delivery platforms like Zomato, highlighting their importance in the industry.

Zorawar recognizes the immense potential provided by platforms like Zomato, which operate across numerous cities in the country. He explains that by opening a delivery kitchen in a city where Zomato is available, he can establish multiple kitchens with minimal investment. This allows him to reach and serve a whole new group of people who may not have been his target audience if he had only focused on traditional dining restaurants due to the higher costs involved.

Apart from Zorawar Kalra, Zomato's chat show series will also showcase the creators behind some of India's most beloved restaurants. These include Biryani by Kilo, known for their deliciously prepared handi biryanis delivered to over 45 cities. Burgerama, a well-known burger chain designed specifically for delivery, operates in various locations such as Delhi NCR, Chandigarh, and Bangalore. Bawarchi Restaurant, a famous eatery in Hyderabad, is renowned for selling over 2000 portions of biryani every day, both online and offline. Lastly, Burger Factory, a popular burger chain, has been serving gourmet, carefully crafted burgers since 2012 across four locations in Goa.
