Swiggy expands its 10-minute food delivery service, Bolt, to over 400 cities in India, including metros and Tier-2 and -3 towns. Check how Bolt revolutionizes fast food delivery with a diverse menu and seamless service while ensuring safety and efficiency for customers and delivery partners.
Swiggy, a leading food and grocery delivery platform, has announced the expansion of its 10-minute food delivery service, Bolt, to more than 400 cities across India. This move marks a significant milestone in Swiggy’s ongoing efforts to redefine food delivery through speed and innovation.
Launched initially in major cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune, the Bolt service ensures that customers receive their favorite dishes in record time. "For the first time, people are getting food from their favorite restaurants delivered as fresh as possible. Idlis come warm and fluffy, ice creams stay frozen, and fries remain crispy," said Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy’s Food Marketplace.
Kapoor highlighted the growing demand from national and local restaurants, which played a crucial role in the decision to expand Bolt to smaller cities and towns. “We’re thrilled to bring this experience to even more cities and homes,” he added.
Beyond metro cities, Bolt has extended its reach to emerging hubs like Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Indore, Coimbatore, and Kochi. The service is also available in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, including Roorkie, Guntur, Warangal, Patna, Solan, Jagtial, Nashik, and Shillong.
Swiggy reported the highest adoption rates for Bolt in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, followed by states like Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Punjab.
How Bolt Works
Bolt delivers food from more than 40,000 restaurants, offering a diverse menu with over 10 lakh items. The service focuses on items requiring minimal or no preparation time, such as burgers, snacks, bakery items, beverages, sweets, ice creams, breakfast dishes, and biryanis.
Popular local favorites like Gwalia Sweets in Ahmedabad, Shiraz and Kookie Jar in Kolkata, Karachi Bakery in Hyderabad, and Irani Cafe in Pune, are among the restaurants participating in Bolt. In Tier-2 cities, outlets such as Varalakshmi Tiffins in Guntur, Akhshay Tiffins in Mangalore, and Baap of Rolls in Roorkie have seen over 10% of their orders coming through Bolt.
To maintain safety, delivery partners are not informed of the distinction between Bolt and regular orders, and no incentives are provided for faster deliveries. The service operates within a 2-km radius, prioritizing delivery partners nearest to participating restaurants for efficiency.
Optimizing the Experience
The Bolt service is prominently featured on Swiggy’s app, making it easily accessible for customers nationwide. Swiggy is actively partnering with restaurants to optimize order prioritization, ensuring faster preparation and seamless delivery.
Enhancing Customer Experience
“Bolt is about redefining food delivery,” Kapoor emphasized, “bringing convenience and freshness to customers while helping restaurants grow.”
As Swiggy continues to scale Bolt, the service demonstrates the company’s commitment to enhancing customer experience and setting new benchmarks in India’s food delivery landscape.
