Get verified with a price: New subscription service offers paid blue badges for Facebook and Instagram accounts
Meta introduces paid verification badges for Facebook and Instagram accounts with Meta Verified subscription
Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, has announced the launch of its own subscription service called "Meta Verified", which is similar to Twitter Blue. This new service offers several benefits, including the ability to get verified on Facebook and Instagram, with a blue tick appearing next to the user's name, which has become a highly coveted status symbol.
One of the other benefits of Meta Verified is that it provides an extra layer of security to help verified creators combat impersonation accounts. This can be especially important for public figures or those with a large following, who may be more susceptible to having fake accounts created in their name.
Currently, Meta Verified is being tested in Australia and New Zealand, with a monthly subscription fee of $11.99 (approximately Rs. 990) for web users and $14.99 (approximately Rs. 1,240) for iPhone users. This move by Meta seems to be part of the company's ongoing efforts to provide more features and value to its users, while also generating additional revenue streams. It will be interesting to see how this new subscription service is received by users and whether it will be rolled out globally in the near future.
Meta has published a blog post detailing the requirements for users who wish to become verified on Facebook and Instagram through its new subscription service, Meta Verified. According to the post, users will need to provide a government-issued identification document to confirm their identity.
The features offered by Meta Verified include a verified badge, which indicates that the account has been confirmed as authentic, as well as protection from impersonation, better customer service, increased visibility and reach, and exclusive features such as stickers on stories. However, it is worth noting that Meta will not limit ads with its Meta Verified subscription.
In its blog post, Meta emphasizes that it aims to create a valuable subscription service for all of its users, including creators, businesses, and the wider community. Additionally, the company clarifies that users who were previously verified using the old verification method will not lose their verified badge.
