Experience the Heritage of Allahabad's Iconic Sweet Shop: Sulaki Lal Srinath & Sons
Sulaki Lal Srinath & Sons is a famous sweet shop in Prayagraj, India, known for its kachoris, lassi, and a variety of traditional sweets made with pure desi ghee and khoya.
Sulaki Lal Srinath & Sons is an iconic sweet shop located in Prayagraj, near Rambagh Railway Station or Chowk. The shop is synonymous with hard work and success. Sulaki Lal started the shop about 80 years ago with kachoris, rabri, lassi, and some basic yet mouthwatering sweets. Today, the newer generations of this HUF are working hard to take it forward with great success.
From pure desi ghee and khoya sweets to different types of sweets, such as Balu Shahi, Motichur Laddoos, Sohan Papdi, Kala Jamun, and Khoya Ki Gujiyas, every item is worth tasting. According to Kamal Gupta ji, his kachoris and vegetables are made without garlic and onion, which attracts his customers. Since Sangam is near, it is most convenient for the devotees to find eat-outs that are garlic-free, as devotees prefer while visiting Sangam.
Sulaki Lal is a well-known name for the residents of Prayagraj, and its name is present-day Sulaki Square (chauraha), which makes every city dweller proud. The shop has two side-by-side stores, one for sweets and kachauri and the other for juices, mango shakes, cold coffee, and most famous for lassi.
Specialties:
Lassi -
The most popular and traditional yogurt-based drink is the loved summer drink, cherished by all. At Sulaki Lal's place, they offer lassi consisting of thick cream served in a Khulhad to give you a traditional feel. It tastes well, feels good, and the amount of sweetness it contains makes you the best foodgasms.
Kachauri -
Kachori is a deep-fried sweet and sour delicacy with a spicy kick that originated on the Indian subcontinent and has dal stuffing. At Sulaki Lal and Sons, kachori is served with aloo ki sabzi, which provides a spicy kick and a hint of kachori crispiness all at once. They even received an award for the best kachori. They don't forget to leave out the garlic and onions, and they serve it on plates made of dried leaves (donga or pattal). One thing you can't miss being an Allahabadi is kachori.
Balushahi -
Everyone knows or has eaten Balusahi at some point in life, but one thing which must be considered is that the Balushali served here is softer and melts in your mouth as soon as you take a bite, whereas other Balushahi are hard and dry.
Sohan Halwa or Sohan Papri -
Most people like Sohan Halwa or Sohan Papri because of its ghee element. If you like ghee, trust me, you should try this.
