The significant increase in tomato prices has affected consumers, as well as businesses such as restaurants and food manufacturers that heavily rely on this versatile ingredient. In an unusual turn of events, a woman named Aarti Burman left her husband, Sandeep Burman, in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, after he used two tomatoes in the food he cooked. Sandeep, who owns an eatery, has sought police assistance in locating his wife.

Mr. Burman stated, "She left home with our daughter and boarded a bus. I have been searching for her for three days and have provided her photograph to the police, but they haven't been able to locate her."

The disagreement arose when the husband used tomatoes in the food without consulting his wife, which upset her and led to an argument. "She didn't want me to add tomatoes," explained Mr. Burman.

The police have confirmed that a complaint has been filed by the husband. Sanjay Jaiswal, Station House Officer of Dhanpuri, Shahdol, revealed, "Aarti left home following an argument with her husband and went to her sister's place in Umaria."

However, the police have intervened and facilitated a conversation between the husband and wife. Mr. Jaiswal assured that the woman will return home soon.

Tomato price seasonality is primarily influenced by the cycle of planting and harvesting seasons, as well as regional variations, as stated by the Consumer Affairs Ministry.

To provide relief to consumers amidst the high prices of this kitchen staple, the Central Government has announced the sale of tomatoes at discounted rates in retail markets in the national capital and a few other cities starting from Friday.
