How to Make Jowar Bhel:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh green jowar (ponkh)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 small cucumber, finely chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/4 tsp black salt (kala namak)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp nylon sev
  • 1 tbsp roasted peanuts

Directions

1. Roast the Jowar

Heat a pan and dry roast the fresh green jowar for 2-3 minutes on medium flame. This enhances its flavor and keeps the bhel crispy. Allow it to cool.

2. Prepare the Bhel Mixture
  • In a large mixing bowl, add roasted jowar, chopped onions, tomatoes, cucumber, and green chilies.

  • Sprinkle roasted cumin powder, chaat masala, and black salt. Mix well.

  • Add roasted peanuts for extra crunch and protein.

3. Add Final Touches
  • Just before serving, drizzle lemon juice and give it a good mix.

  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and nylon sev.

  • Serve immediately for the best crispy texture!
