Mumbai Couple Refuses to Pay Pizza Delivery Agent for Not Speaking Marathi
A pizza delivery agent in Mumbai was harassed by a couple who refused to pay for their order, demanding that he speak in Marathi. The incident highlights growing concerns over linguistic intolerance in urban India.

A routine pizza delivery in Mumbai's Bhandup suburb took an unpleasant turn when a couple allegedly harassed the delivery agent for not speaking in Marathi. The incident, which occurred at Sai Radhe building, has added fuel to the ongoing debate over language preferences and regional identity in Maharashtra.
The dispute began when the couple insisted that the delivery agent converse in Marathi. The agent, who primarily spoke Hindi, tried to reason with them. "If language was an issue, you shouldn't have placed the order," he said in a video he recorded of the interaction.
The woman objected to being filmed, saying, “Mera video nahi nikalne ka, main tumhara video nikal sakti hoon” (Don’t record me, I can record you), to which the delivery agent responded sharply, questioning the compulsion of such demands.
As tensions escalated, the man accompanying the woman attempted to shut the door, but she continued recording the confrontation. The delivery agent then asked them to show if the food was defective, saying, "Dikhao na order kharab hai toh dikhao."
Despite delivering the order, the agent left without receiving payment. The company responsible for the delivery has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
This event has sparked fresh conversations about linguistic sensitivity and customer behavior in metropolitan cities, especially in diverse linguistic hubs like Mumbai.
