A group of students hailing from Madhya Pradesh experienced a distressing ordeal during their train journey on the Dadar Express, as they succumbed to severe food poisoning symptoms near Phillaur, Ludhiana. Subsequently, 10 students were swiftly rushed to Ludhiana Civil Hospital for immediate medical attention. The incident has raised concerns and sparked an investigation into the source of the contaminated food that led to this unfortunate outbreak.
According to officials from the Government Railway Police, the affected students, who were part of a larger group consisting of approximately 125 individuals, had brought packed food from a hotel. As their train journey progressed, several students began exhibiting symptoms of food poisoning, necessitating urgent intervention.
Balram Rana, the Superintendent of Police (SP) at the Government Railway Police, shed light on the situation, stating that the group of 134 students, predominantly comprising girls from the National Cadet Corps and National Service Scheme, had recently arrived in Amritsar on June 17 for a planned trip organized by the Madhya Pradesh government. Unfortunately, their journey on the Dadar Express took a harrowing turn when they started experiencing vomiting spells near Phillaur.
Upon detection of the initial symptoms of food poisoning, approximately 25 students received immediate medical treatment at the railway station. However, those with more severe conditions were subsequently transferred to Ludhiana Civil Hospital for further medical care and observation.
Authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine the exact cause of the food poisoning outbreak. Efforts are focused on identifying the specific food items consumed by the students and tracing their origin to pinpoint the source of contamination. This investigation aims to prevent similar incidents in the future and safeguard the well-being of travelers.
