LPG Cylinder Price Hiked by ₹50; Ujjwala Yojana Beneficiaries Also Affected: Hardeep Singh Puri
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announces ₹50 hike in LPG cylinder prices, impacting both Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries and general consumers amid rising global energy costs.

New Delhi: Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, on Sunday confirmed a ₹50 increase in the price of domestic LPG cylinders. The revised rates will apply to both general consumers and beneficiaries of the government’s flagship Ujjwala Yojana.
The hike comes against the backdrop of volatile global crude oil prices and growing inflationary pressure on the energy sector. The move is likely to affect millions of households relying on LPG as their primary cooking fuel.
Speaking to the media, Minister Puri acknowledged the impact of the price hike but stressed the government's commitment to promoting clean and accessible cooking fuel across the country. “Through the Ujjwala Yojana, we’ve helped millions gain freedom from harmful fuels like firewood, coal, and cow dung,” he said.
Puri reiterated the government’s intention to continue supporting low-income households through subsidies and targeted welfare schemes, even as international energy prices fluctuate.
This is the latest adjustment in LPG rates, which are reviewed periodically based on global market dynamics. The announcement is expected to spark fresh debate on fuel affordability and subsidy policies in the country.
