Mumbai's beloved vegetarian hotspot, Radhakrishna, has to close its doors after a complaint from an MNS leader. check the full story
A recently opened restaurant named 'Radhakrishna' located on Bhaudaji Road in Matunga has been forced to shut down following a complaint filed by Sandeep Deshpande, a former corporator of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). The vegetarian eatery had gained immense popularity among food enthusiasts, resulting in long queues of eager customers waiting to be served.
However, questions were raised about the municipal ward office's decision to grant permission for the restaurant's operation, as it was situated on the ground floor of an under-construction building. To ensure the safety of customers, nets were placed to prevent any potential hazards caused by falling building materials. Furthermore, it has been revealed that the restaurant did not possess the necessary health department license. Dr. Rahul Salunke, the health officer, confirmed that the license application was still in the process of being reviewed.
Sandeep Deshpande expressed his disbelief at the speed with which the Building Proposals Department processed the application for partial occupation of the building. He sarcastically remarked that he intended to felicitate the engineers involved for their extraordinary efficiency.
Sources have also indicated that another restaurant and a chat corner are currently operating in another under-construction building within the F (North) Ward. The municipality will likely investigate these establishments to ensure compliance with safety regulations and the proper acquisition of licenses.
The closure of 'Radhakrishna' has disappointed its loyal customers who were enamored with the restaurant's offerings. It serves as a reminder for aspiring restaurateurs to diligently adhere to legal requirements and obtain the necessary permits before commencing operations.
