Water Crisis or Mobile Obsession? Food Inspector Suspended for Draining Dam to Retrieve Lost Phone

A food inspector in Chhattisgarh has been suspended for emptying a reservoir in an attempt to retrieve his lost phone.

On a delightful Sunday afternoon, Rajesh Vishwas, who had been previously appointed as a food inspector, decided to embark on a memorable outing near the serene Kherkatta dam. While embracing the picturesque surroundings and indulging in the natural beauty, Rajesh, in a moment of excitement, attempted to capture a captivating selfie as a memento. His cherished mobile device unexpectedly slipped from his grasp, descending into the tranquil waters of the dam, disappearing beneath the shimmering surface.

In what transpired as a desperate attempt to retrieve his device, Rajesh allegedly resorted to employing a staggering 21 lakh litres of water from the Paralkot reservoir. This incident not only raised concerns about the preservation of this valuable water resource but also sparked an investigation into Rajesh's actions. Consequently, the authorities took the decision to suspend him from his position pending further inquiry.

Expressing his concerns on the matter, Anoop Nag, a Congress MLA, voiced his reaction by stating that he had received information through sources and media reports regarding the incident involving Rajesh Vishwas, a food inspector from Pakhanjur. According to the reports, Rajesh had ventured on a picnic near Kherkatta dam, where he unfortunately lost his mobile phone. Astonishingly, it is alleged that he resorted to draining the entire dam in a desperate attempt to locate his device. This action is deemed unacceptable, particularly considering the significance of water resources in an area heavily populated by farmers.

Anoop Nag emphasized that while acknowledging the importance of the phone and its data, causing such a significant loss of public water is unacceptable. He highlighted the deployment of numerous individuals to search for the phone, but expressed strong disapproval towards the decision to drain the entire dam. In response to the incident, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) has assured that an investigation will be conducted, and Anoop Nag called upon the district collector to take strict and appropriate action in this regard.

In summary, Anoop Nag, a Congress MLA, responded to the incident involving Rajesh Vishwas, the food inspector, by expressing his distress over the alleged actions. He cited his sources of information and media reports, highlighting the draining of the dam as an unacceptable course of action, and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation and strict consequences to be imposed by the district collector.
