Partnering for a greener future: Zomato and Yulu team up for sustainable last-mile deliveries
Revolutionizing last-mile deliveries with sustainable solutions! Zomato and Yulu partner up to create a greener future for all. Check the details
With Zomato, Yulu, a provider of shared electric mobility as a service (MaaS), has partnered to ease deliveries. As a result, Yulu's DeX EV will be used by the food delivery service for deliveries within cities. For the first phase of this initiative, delivery partners on the Zomato platform will receive between 25,000 and 35,000 Yulu for last-mile deliveries. Zomato can purchase customized rental packages from Yulu. Pradeep Puranam, Director of Revenue and Operations at Yulu, expressed excitement about partnering with Zomato, given their shared concern for the environment and the need to provide delivery partners with a secure, reliable, and sustainable means of transportation for daily deliveries. He also mentioned that these solutions can increase the earnings of delivery partners by up to 30% due to Yulu's in-depth knowledge of the delivery environment, purpose-built product DeX, reliable operations, and extensive network of battery swapping stations, which could result in improving delivery partner earnings by 40%.
This partnership benefits customers, delivery personnel, and both businesses, as there is a growing desire among consumers to reduce their carbon footprint. "At Zomato, we are committed to having a positive impact on the environment and the communities we serve," said Mohit Sardana, COO of Food Delivery. He also expressed delight in working with Yulu to improve the efficiency and sustainability of last-mile delivery operations. Together, they aim to convert the delivery fleet to 100% electric as part of The Climate Group's EV100 initiative, and with Yulu's help, they are happy to be on the right track to achieving this goal. He stressed the importance of making working at Zomato greener and making the world a better place for everyone.
For young people who want to join as delivery partners, rising fuel costs and financial difficulties are major obstacles. Yulu's DeX offers a solution to these issues, providing a simple mobility option for everyone to use. Compared to ICE vehicles, Yulu has flexible rental packs that allow delivery partners to earn more money. Additionally, to reduce their downtime during last-mile deliveries, transportation partners have access to Yuma Energy's extensive network of battery-swapping stations. By 2026, these 25,000+ Yulu DeX vehicles could make 3 Lakh green deliveries each day once they are fully distributed.
According to a press release, over 4,000 delivery partners who have joined Zomato's platform are now using Yulu's EVs to make last-mile deliveries.
Given the effects of fuel prices and inflation, this collaboration could open up new opportunities for the food delivery industry, which prioritizes sustainability.
