Nayan Jyoti Saikia, from Assam, emerged as the winner of MasterChef India Season 7, showcasing his passion for cooking that began at the tender age of 8. He spent his childhood days in Assam, where he cultivated his love for farming and growing vegetables, spices, and condiments, which eventually led him to the art of cooking. One of his fondest memories from his childhood was harvesting and cooking potatoes, which received immense appreciation from his family, inspiring him to pursue his passion for cooking.
Participating in MasterChef India Season 7 brought about a significant change in his life, as he was previously an introvert and camera-conscious person. However, the experience helped him overcome his fears, and he now receives numerous visitors who look up to him as an inspiration. He aims to represent his local culture and take it to the international level through his social media channels, showcasing his regional food, which he is immensely proud of.

Nayan's cooking style involves modern techniques infused with Indian flavors, where he enjoys creating delectable desserts, especially French desserts with an Indian twist. The contestants of MasterChef India Season 7 referred to him as the "tarteshwar," or the God of Tarts, due to his love for making tarts, whether sweet or savory.
He advises upcoming chefs to follow techniques but not to copy others, as it might hinder their ability to create a unique identity. Nayan encourages aspiring chefs to focus on ingredients and their thoughts while cooking rather than merely following recipes. Some of his famous tart recipes include Passion Fruit, Orange, and White Chocolate Tart, Mushroom and Onion Puff Pastry Tart, Apple Frangipane Tart, and Hazelnut, Chocolate, and Coffee Tart.
