Kiko Live Unveils 'Tabe' — India’s First Food-Only Buyer App on ONDC, Promises Up to 30% Cheaper Meals
Kiko Live launches Tabe, India’s first food-only buyer-side app on ONDC, offering up to 30% cheaper food delivery by eliminating high commissions. Over 75,000 restaurants already onboarded.
In a major boost to ONDC’s digital commerce ambitions, Kiko Live has launched ‘Tabe’ — India’s first food-only buyer-side app built exclusively for ordering food and beverages.
Backed by the Indian government’s Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), Tabe stands out by offering a dedicated food ordering experience, unlike other buyer apps that span across multiple retail categories. The app is designed to bring both affordability and simplicity to online food delivery — by focusing solely on food, removing category clutter, and leveraging ONDC’s low-commission model.
“With Tabe, our goal was simple — bring the affordability and transparency promised by ONDC directly to food lovers, without compromising on the experience they’ve come to expect,” said Alok Chawla, Co-Founder of Kiko Live. “By focusing exclusively on food, we’ve simplified discovery and created a value-first platform that helps both customers and restaurants win.”
What Makes Tabe Different?
The name Tabe, derived from the Japanese word for "eat food", aligns with the app’s single-minded focus. It offers a user interface familiar to mainstream food delivery apps but operates within the cost-effective ONDC framework.
By bypassing traditional high-commission models (up to 45%), Tabe takes advantage of ONDC’s ultra-low commission structure (3–8%), enabling restaurants to pass savings directly to consumers. As a result, Tabe claims to offer prices up to 30% lower than existing food delivery giants.
Growth & Reach
Since its quiet launch last week, Tabe is already clocking over 100 daily orders, with a 20% repeat customer rate — a promising sign of early adoption.
Kiko Live reports that more than 75,000 restaurants are already listed on Tabe, including:
15,000+ in Bengaluru
10,000 in Delhi NCR
5,000 each in Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad
Major food chains like McDonald’s, KFC, Subway, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Wow! Momo, FreshMenu, EatFit, Biryani By Kilo, and others have already onboarded.
