This pilot program will initially launch at four stations: Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam.
Passengers can now pre-order meals through IRCTC's e-catering portal and have them delivered to their train seats by Swiggy. This collaboration aims to enhance the travel experience by offering a wider range of food options with the convenience of delivery.
This partnership marks IRCTC's latest initiative to improve its catering services. It follows a similar agreement with Zomato launched in October 2023, offering pre-ordered meal delivery at stations like New Delhi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Varanasi.
The Swiggy partnership is expected to benefit both parties. IRCTC gains access to Swiggy's vast network and diverse food offerings, while Swiggy taps into the high passenger traffic of Indian Railways. This collaboration could also boost Swiggy's pre-IPO buzz, as the company prepares to enter the stock market in 2024.
