From Bicycle to Motorcycle: A Life Transformed for the Zomato Agent thru Twitter Fundraising
Sometimes, a small act of kindness can have a profound impact. Witness how Twitter rallied together to buy a motorcycle for a dedicated Zomato agent, transforming his life and reigniting his teaching career
In April 2022, Aditya Sharma, a Twitter user, shared a heartwarming story about a Zomato delivery agent in Rajasthan who, despite the scorching heat, diligently delivered orders on a bicycle. Witnessing this incredible dedication, a collective effort on Twitter raised sufficient funds to purchase a motorcycle for Durga Meena, the diligent Zomato delivery agent.
Over a year later, Aditya Sharma provided an update on Meena, who had turned to food delivery after losing his teaching job during the pandemic. This time, Sharma shared a photograph of Meena delivering an order on his new Hero Splendor bike. The ownership of the bike has significantly boosted Meena's earnings, enabling him to repay the loans he had taken to acquire it.
After nearly a year, guess who showed up? It was Durga. Let me provide some context: we helped Durga by running a crowdfunding campaign and assisting him in getting a bike.

Currently, Meena earns between Rs 800 to Rs 1,000 per day, a substantial increase from his monthly income of Rs 10,000 a year ago, which is noteworthy in a tier-3 city. Furthermore, Meena has managed to return to his passion for teaching by initiating private tuition classes for children in his community.
Sharma's recent photograph of the smiling Zomato agent stands in stark contrast to the image from a year ago when Meena delivered food orders on a bicycle. During that time, Sharma had chronicled Meena's journey from being a teacher to becoming a Zomato delivery partner. Meena had expressed his desire to pursue a Master's degree in Commerce (MCOM) despite financial constraints, which led him to join Zomato.
Meena had shared with Sharma that with a bicycle, he could manage 10-12 deliveries per day, but the physical exertion left him exhausted. His aspiration to enhance his productivity and reduce physical strain prompted him to aspire for a motorcycle.
Sharma led a crowdfunding campaign that successfully raised over Rs 75,000 for Meena, enabling the purchase of a Hero Splendor bike.
