Zomato introduces daily payouts for small eateries, Check who all are eligible

New Delhi: Food delivery giant Zomato has rolled out a game-changer for small eateries on its platform - daily payouts replacing the traditional weekly system. This move addresses a critical pain point for these businesses, offering quicker access to their hard-earned income.

In a blog post published Wednesday, Zomato acknowledged the financial difficulties faced by smaller restaurants relying on the weekly payout model. Recognizing this challenge, the company designed the daily payout feature to provide more frequent cash flow, crucial for their operations.

For now, this benefit is available to restaurants receiving 100 or fewer orders per month. The switch from weekly to daily payouts is seamless and free of additional charges. Restaurants simply need to opt-in for daily settlement of transactions based on sales from the previous three days.

Zomato emphasizes that this initiative is just one step in its ongoing efforts to support the restaurant industry. The company understands the competitive landscape these businesses navigate and acknowledges the importance of efficient working capital and steady cash flow for their success.

With lakhs of restaurant partners across India, Zomato plays a significant role in the online food delivery boom. However, restaurants have long voiced concerns regarding terms on the platform, including data transparency and commission rates.

Zomato's daily payout introduction is a positive step towards addressing the needs of smaller restaurants. While challenges remain, such as commission structure and data access, this move demonstrates the platform's commitment to fostering a healthier ecosystem for its partners.

In the September quarter of 2023, Zomato reported a gross order value of ₹7,980 crore from food delivery, with 18.4 million average monthly transacting customers. The daily payout scheme has the potential to further attract and retain small eateries, potentially boosting order volume and overall platform growth.

Zomato's daily payouts for small eateries are a welcome change, offering much-needed financial relief and potentially paving the way for a more supportive environment for smaller businesses in the online food delivery space.
