Zomato hires Anmol Gupta as Chief Fitness Officer to lead the charge on employee wellness and fitness
Zomato, the meal delivery aggregator, hires its first-ever Chief Fitness Officer, Anmol Gupta, to invest in the physical and emotional health of its workforce. The CFO will collaborate with a wellness team to track and manage employees' health and nutrition, offering customized meal plans and fitness assistance. A fundamental shift in the organization's senior leadership reflects the growing trend of companies prioritizing employee well-being.
Zomato has joined the exclusive group of companies who are making significant investments in the physical and emotional health of their workforce. This group is small but increasing. In order to do this, the meal delivery aggregator has hired “a new kind of CFO” – a Chief Fitness Officer, whose duties will involve closely collaborating with Zomato staff members to track and manage their health and nutrition.
Anmol Gupta was chosen on July 31 by Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal to serve as the organization’s first-ever Chief Fitness Officer.
“It is no secret that physical health—which also determines mental health—is a vital force behind a high-performance individual,” Goyal said in a memo presenting the new job. Before going into further detail on the value of excellent health, he used his own fitness experience as an example.
According to Goyal, “Great work is an outcome of good health; good health is not secondary to great work,” citing some of the ways Zomato has supported its workers’ physical and emotional wellbeing. These efforts include a gym at the corporate headquarters in Gurugram, in-house mental health care, and a lax leave policy.
A fundamental shift In the makeup of our senior leadership may be seen in the establishment of the Chief Fitness Officer position, according to Goyal. The CFO’s responsibilities will involve closely collaborating with Zomato staff members, or Zomans, “in their individual journey of wellness and healthy living.”
According to the CEO of Zomato, the new CFO will collaborate with a wellness team made up of trainers, dietitians, and wellbeing specialists.
The dietitians from Zomato will be in charge of creating customized meal plans for each employee to keep track of their consumption of macro- and micronutrients. Additionally, trainers will offer assistance to staff members in weightlifting, yoga, boxing, and other activities. Both beginners and experts will be catered for.
Goyal concluded by saying, “Moving forward, we are going to invest fully behind the welfare of our employees, our delivery partners, and our restaurant partners.
Anmol Gupta said on his LinkedIn profile that he is looking forward to “making Zomato fitter.” Gupta has worked in the health and fitness sector for more than five years. According to his LinkedIn page, he obtained an MBA after completing his B.Com at Delhi University and began working as a financial analyst in 2013.
Gupta changed careers to become a strength and conditioning instructor at Blackbox Functional Fitness in 2017. A year later, he co-founded Endure, a fitness platform that pays users for cycling, walking, and other forms of exercise and enables them to monetize their health objectives.
