Yakult Danone India, a joint venture between Yakult Honsha of Japan and Groupe Danone of France, has appointed Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu as its new brand ambassador. The move is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its mission of raising awareness about gut health and expanding its presence in the growing Indian probiotics market.

Speaking about her association, Taapsee Pannu said, “I’m really happy to be part of Yakult’s journey in promoting good gut health. My family has been enjoying Yakult for years, especially my mom. I’ve seen firsthand how small, consistent habits can make a big difference. I truly believe that good health starts in the gut, and Yakult is such an easy, tasty way to include that in our daily routine.”

Yakult India’s Growth Plans

Eiji Amano, Managing Director of Yakult Danone India, emphasized the importance of the Indian market for the brand. He stated that from a small beginning in 2008, Yakult has grown into a trusted name in probiotic drinks in India. The company now aims to achieve double-digit growth every year until 2030, reflecting the rising demand for probiotics and functional health beverages in the country.

Yakult’s Unique Probiotic Advantage

Highlighting Yakult’s scientific edge, Neerja Hajela, CSO – Science and Regulatory Affairs, explained that Yakult contains the unique Shirota strain, clinically proven to boost digestion, improve nutrient absorption, and increase the number of good bacteria in the gut. This strain is what makes Yakult stand out in the Indian probiotic drinks market.

Strengthening Consumer Engagement

According to Taku Otsuka, Director – Sales, PR & Marketing, Yakult’s mission goes beyond selling products. He said the company is committed to sparking conversations about gut health in India and making probiotics part of everyday life through innovative campaigns and on-ground initiatives.

Wellness Movement in India

With Taapsee Pannu joining Yakult Danone India, the company hopes to build a stronger emotional connect with Indian consumers while reinforcing the message that good health begins in the gut. This aligns with India’s growing interest in wellness, probiotics, and functional nutrition.
