Swiggy Expands Food Delivery Services to 100 Railway Stations Across India

Swiggy, India's leading on-demand convenience platform, has expanded its food delivery service to 100 railway stations across 20 states in partnership with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). This expansion aims to enhance the travel experience by offering passengers a diverse range of meal options, delivered directly to their train seats.

With this initiative, train passengers can now choose from over 7 million menu items representing more than 35 cuisines, provided by over 60,000 restaurant brands nationwide. The service ensures guaranteed delivery to the seat, with a full refund in case of non-delivery. Passengers can pre-order their meals by entering their train PNR in the Swiggy app, which then displays all available stations where food can be delivered along their route.

To further improve the onboard dining experience, Swiggy has introduced assured eco-friendly cutlery with every order, including a spoon, fork, and tissue. This move underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability and hygiene.

Since launching its partnership with IRCTC in March 2024, Swiggy has witnessed significant demand for its train food delivery service. Here are some notable insights from the past year:

• 35,000 orders have been successfully delivered on trains, even during halts as short as 60 seconds.

• 54,000 travelers placed multiple meal orders during a single trip, showcasing the growing popularity of the service.

• Vijayawada Junction recorded the highest number of orders, followed by Nellore, Secunderabad Junction, and Katpadi Junction.

• Kalyan Junction witnessed the largest single order placed—a massive meal featuring 41 burgers and 40 fries.

• Biryani emerged as the top favorite with over 100,000 orders, followed by popular breakfast items like dosa, idli, and vada.

• Passengers explored diverse cuisines beyond traditional train food, including Tibetan Baked Cheesy Momos, Cinnamon Churros, Mexican Mushroom & Cheese Quesadillas, and Lebanese Classic Peppy Chicken Shawarma.

With the success of its food delivery service at railway stations, Swiggy is now focusing on expanding to more locations across the country. This move aligns with its broader strategy of making high-quality food accessible to consumers, regardless of their location.
