At a recent investor event in London hosted by Prosus, Swiggy’s Group CEO Sriharsha Majety revealed that the company launched Snacc, its new 10-minute food delivery pilot, in just 16 days. This wasn’t just a quick reaction; it was a clear signal of Swiggy’s determination to stay ahead of rivals like Zepto Cafe and Blinkit’s Bistro.
“The moment we decided to do something of our own… it took us 16 days to put the application out there,” Majety said, highlighting Swiggy’s speed and focus.
Swiggy’s strategy: move fast, stay ahead
Rather than simply reacting, Majety explained that Swiggy’s culture is built around agility and confidence. If they spot a new trend or an opening, they act immediately instead of waiting.
“If there is an interesting opening, we’ll be out there in weeks, trying our own luck with the customer… We’re not going to wait and watch,” he told investors.
This proactive approach isn’t only about defending market share; it’s about shaping the market itself.
Watching new challengers — even its own partners
Majety also addressed questions about Rapido, a ride-hailing startup backed by Swiggy, moving into food delivery. Rather than seeing it as a threat, he welcomed fresh takes that might expand the food delivery category further.
“It’ll be interesting to see if there’s an alternate take to food delivery that can grow the category,” he added.
Quick commerce: the next battleground
Swiggy, Zepto, Blinkit, and others are racing to win over customers with 10-minute food and snack deliveries. By rolling out Snacc in just over two weeks, Swiggy showed it isn’t afraid to invest, experiment, and compete fiercely to stay on top.
