Reliance Consumer to Invest ₹1,500 Crore in Nagpur Food Manufacturing Unit by 2026
Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries, will invest ₹1,500 crore in an integrated food and beverages unit in Nagpur, Maharashtra, creating over 500 jobs.
Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), the fast-growing FMCG arm of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries, has announced plans to invest ₹1,500 crore in a large-scale food and beverages manufacturing facility in Katol, Nagpur, Maharashtra.
The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government, under which the state will extend support in obtaining approvals, clearances, and financial incentives. The facility is expected to start operations in 2026 and will provide direct employment to over 500 people, according to a video statement shared by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Part of Reliance’s Larger FMCG Push
This investment aligns with Reliance’s broader strategy to transform Reliance Consumer into a dominant FMCG player. At its recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), Reliance Industries had announced plans to invest ₹40,000 crore (USD 4.7 billion) to build Asia’s largest integrated food parks, equipped with AI-driven automation, robotics, and sustainable technologies.
RCPL, originally incubated within Reliance Retail, has quickly emerged as one of the fastest-growing FMCG companies in India, clocking revenues of ₹11,500 crore in just three years. Now operating as a direct subsidiary of Reliance Industries, RCPL aims to scale up to ₹1 lakh crore in revenue within the next five years and expand globally.
Isha Ambani on Future Ambitions
During the AGM, Isha Ambani, Director at Reliance Industries, highlighted RCPL as a key growth engine for the group. She emphasized that the FMCG vertical would serve as a blueprint for expansion into other consumer categories, including apparel and electronics.
“Our long-term ambition is to become India’s largest FMCG company with a global presence. RCPL will be a new value-creating engine for Reliance, comparable in size and profitability to our retail business,” she said.
Portfolio and Acquisitions
In recent years, Reliance Consumer has been actively expanding its brand portfolio. It has launched new product lines under Campa Cola, Independence, Alan’s, Enzo, and Ravalgaon, while also acquiring emerging consumer brands like Tagz Foods. This strategy positions RCPL to cater to evolving consumer preferences in India’s competitive FMCG landscape.
With its Nagpur food unit and upcoming mega food parks, Reliance Consumer is set to reshape India’s FMCG industry while strengthening Maharashtra’s position as a key hub for food manufacturing and processing.
