Online travel booking platform MakeMyTrip has joined hands with Zomato to offer food delivery services for train passengers across more than 130 railway stations in India. Through this partnership, passengers booking train tickets via MakeMyTrip can order meals directly to their seats from over 40,000 restaurants listed on Zomato.

To celebrate the festive season, the companies have also introduced a special Diwali coupon that can be redeemed on Zomato for food orders.

Food on Train: Enhancing Passenger Convenience

The new service, branded as “Food on Train”, allows passengers to pre-order meals for all times of the day, including breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. Orders will be integrated with MakeMyTrip’s Live Train Status tool, ensuring timely delivery at designated stations.

According to MakeMyTrip, early feedback from a soft launch has been “encouraging,” showing strong demand among train travelers.

Growing Demand for Train Food Delivery

Citing industry data, MakeMyTrip highlighted that more than 90,000 passengers used Indian Railways’ e-catering services daily in FY25, representing a 66% year-on-year growth. With this rising demand, the partnership with Zomato aims to offer passengers greater choice, convenience, and quality meals while traveling.
