Haryana Gov Declares Dry Day on Ayodhya Ram Mandir Consecration Day

Chandigarh, Haryana: In a move aligning with other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led states, the Haryana government has declared January 22nd a "dry day" across the state. This decision coincides with the highly anticipated "Pran Pratishtha" (consecration ceremony) of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar made the announcement on Monday while attending an event in Chandigarh. He directed the concerned department to ensure all liquor shops remain closed throughout January 22nd.

This follows similar dry day declarations in several other BJP-governed states, including Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, highlighting the importance and religious significance attached to the temple's consecration ceremony.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with other dignitaries, is expected to attend the auspicious occasion on January 22nd. The ceremony marks the culmination of a long and contentious journey for the Ram temple construction, making it a momentous occasion for millions of Hindus across India.

While some may object to the alcohol ban citing individual liberties, the Haryana government's decision reflects its respect for the sentiments of a large portion of the state's population and acknowledges the sacred nature of the upcoming event.
