The smell of corruption persisted in the air as we zoomed through Bengaluru’s busy streets while an exciting game of cat and mouse took place. A food inspector who was suspected of being involved in a network of bribes ended up caught up in a nail-biting 15-kilometer car pursuit, which mesmerized bystanders.

A government employee was detained on Friday for accepting bribes after a thrilling 15-kilometer pursuit by Lokayukta police.

The official who was taken into custody is Mahanthe Gowda B Kadabalu, a food inspector at the Bengaluru North tahsildar’s office.

Ashok K. V., the superintendent of police for the Lokayukta of Bengaluru, stated: “A 43-year-old man called Rangadhamaiah had filed a complaint against Kadabalu for requesting Rs 1 lakh for obtaining a trade license, and he had given Rs 12,000 as an advance. Kadabalu was caught on Friday after we set a trap for him.

At 10 p.m. on Friday, Kadabalu had requested Rangadhamaiah to deliver Rs. 43,000 to Tumakuru Road, close to Manjunath Nagar.

After accepting the money from Rangadhamaiah, Kadabalu left the area after spotting an indication of the Lokayukta’s trap.

Ashok told DH, “We tracked him for roughly 15-20 kilometres before capturing him at Sondekoppa near Nelamangala.

When others trying to stop Kadabalu tried to stop him, he reportedly tried to drive over ‘panchas’ (unrelated witnesses) and Lokayukta police officials. Eventually, a Tata Sumo traveling the other way stopped his car.

At the Nelamangala police station, Kadabalu has been the subject of a second complaint for attempting to attack a public official. On Saturday, he was brought before a court.
