Chef Vikas Khanna’s Restaurant Bungalow Earns Michelin “Bib Gourmand” Award
Chef Vikas Khanna’s New York restaurant Bungalow earns the prestigious Michelin "Bib Gourmand" award for exceptional value and outstanding Indian cuisine.
New York: Celebrated chef Vikas Khanna's latest venture, Bungalow, has been awarded the prestigious "Bib Gourmand" by the Michelin Guide. This accolade recognizes restaurants that offer exceptional value for money, with a focus on approachable, satisfying cuisine. The honor adds to Khanna's illustrious career and further solidifies his impact on the global culinary stage.
According to the Michelin Guide, the "Bib Gourmand" highlights establishments that balance affordability with high-quality cooking. "Bib restaurants share a simpler style of cooking that is recognizable and easy-to-eat. They leave diners satisfied, having eaten well at a reasonable price," the guide explains.
On receiving the award, Chef Khanna expressed his gratitude and reflected on the significance of this milestone. Posting on Instagram, he shared, “260 days of Bungalow and today we received the Michelin 2024 Bib Gourmand Award. While I’ve previously received the Michelin Star 8 times, today felt different. It felt like a tribute—a promise to my land and my people. To my sister. This is just the beginning. We will work harder every day to create an experience that embodies Indian hospitality."
The Michelin Guide praised Bungalow as a warm and inviting space, adorned with pale pink walls, colorful murals, and a beautifully crafted bar. The bustling dining room is known for its contemporary Indian cuisine, drawing inspiration from the diverse culinary traditions of India's 28 states. Standout dishes include the indulgent five-cheese kulcha (stuffed flatbread) and the innovative yogurt kebabs wrapped in crispy kataifi pastry, served with pickled cabbage puree and spicy mango coulis. Guests are also treated to unique cocktails, such as turmeric-infused tequila and chili-infused mezcal, that perfectly complement the menu.

With the “Bib Gourmand” recognition, Bungalow continues to elevate Indian cuisine in New York, offering diners an immersive culinary experience that celebrates Khanna’s roots and the essence of Indian hospitality.
