CCL Products acquires six iconic coffee brands from Lofbergs Group, expanding its presence in the UK's instant coffee market

CCL Products, the largest producer of instant coffee in India, acquires six renowned coffee brands from Lofbergs Group, including Percol. This strategic move grants CCL access to major UK supermarkets, boosting its position in Europe's largest instant coffee market.

Lofbergs Group was established in 1906 and has grown to become one of the largest coffee roasters in the Nordic area. Its headquarters are in Karlstad, Sweden, and it produces more than 10 million cups of coffee every day. It has its own roasting facilities in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Latvia, and sells coffee in roughly ten Northern European markets.

The largest producer of instant coffee in India, CCL Products (India) Ltd, announced on Thursday that it has purchased six coffee brands from Swedish coffee roasters Lofbergs Group, including Percol. Six brands, including Percol, Rocket Fuel, Plantation Wharf, The London Blend, Perk Up, and Percol Fusion, were purchased by CCL from Food Brands Group, a division of Lofbergs Group, in a deal believed to be worth roughly 550,000 British Pounds (Rs 5.68 crore).

According to a release, “The purchase would provide CCL access to major supermarkets in the UK, which is Europe’s largest market for instant coffee with annual retail sales of USD 850 million (Rs 69,187 BN).

It offers coffee in roughly ten markets in Northern Europe and has its own roasting facilities in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Latvia. With production facilities in India, Vietnam, and Switzerland, CCL, one of the biggest private-label coffee makers in the world, was founded in 1994. Since its introduction in 1987, the Percol brand has offered instant coffee, roast and ground coffee, and coffee bags.

Percol is a brand with an undeniably positive history and an ambitious venture. Praveen Jaipuriar, CEO of CCL, stated that the company will innovate, launch new products, and concentrate on B2C and B2B marketing in order to realize value.
