Gurugram, India – Online delivery platform Blinkit has entered the healthcare space with the launch of a 10-minute ambulance service, starting with five operational ambulances in Gurugram. The company aims to address the critical need for fast and reliable emergency medical care, with plans to expand the service to major cities over the next two years.
CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced the initiative on Thursday, emphasizing that profit is not the focus. “This is our first step toward solving the issue of quick and dependable ambulance access in cities,” he stated.
The ambulances, bookable via the Blinkit app, are equipped with essential life-saving tools, including oxygen cylinders, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), stretchers, monitors, suction machines, and emergency medicines. Each vehicle is staffed by a trained paramedic, an assistant, and a driver to ensure quality care.
Dhindsa highlighted that the service would remain affordable for customers as the company focuses on long-term solutions for emergency healthcare. “We’re scaling this initiative cautiously, as it’s new territory for us. Our goal is to expand across all major cities within the next two years,” he added.
He also urged the public to support the initiative by making way for ambulances, reminding everyone that this small act could save lives.
