FSSAI Raids Vehicle in Ranchi; Seizes 560 Kg Adulterated Paneer, Ghee & Cream
FSSAI seizes 560 kg adulterated paneer, 20 kg ghee, and 20 kg cream in Ranchi. Initial tests show starch in paneer. All dairy items destroyed; vehicle caught without food license.
In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) conducted a surprise raid in Ranchi, Jharkhand, and seized a large consignment of adulterated dairy products, raising serious concerns about public health.
According to officials, the raid led to the seizure of:
-
560 kg of adulterated paneer
-
20 kg of ghee
-
20 kg of cream
Initial field testing revealed the presence of starch in the paneer, a common indicator of adulteration. All collected items have been sent to the state food testing laboratory for detailed analysis and verification.
The adulterated dairy products were being transported in a vehicle bearing registration number JH01BZ8891. Authorities noted that the vehicle was operating without a valid food license, and a notice has been issued to its owner.
To safeguard public health, the FSSAI team immediately destroyed all the seized items on the spot, following protocol.
Action in Progress
FSSAI officials confirmed that further legal and administrative action is underway against the suppliers and transporters involved in the distribution of adulterated dairy products in the region.
“This is part of an ongoing statewide drive to clamp down on food adulteration. Strict measures will be taken against violators to ensure consumer safety,” said a senior FSSAI officer from Jharkhand.
Why This Matters
Paneer, ghee, and cream are staple ingredients in Indian households, and their adulteration poses a direct risk to consumer health, especially for children and the elderly. Starch and other unauthorized additives can lead to serious digestive and metabolic issues when consumed regularly.
