Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his official visit to Brunei, was hosted by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah for a special lunch at Istana Nurul Iman, the Sultan's official residence. The event took place on September 4, 2024, following productive bilateral discussions.

The Indian embassy in Brunei shared details of the lunch via social media, offering a glimpse of the exquisite menu, which featured a blend of Indian and international flavors. The meal began with an appetizer of avocado, vegetable rice cake, cucumber, and asparagus, paired with pickled radishes. The second course was a flavorful lentil soup served with crispy tortillas and broccoli.

Next came a vegetable quiche accompanied by spinach, forest mushrooms with black truffle, and a pumpkin and green peas puree. The artistic plating, especially the tri-colored puree, evoked the Indian flag, adding a patriotic touch.

For the main course, guests were offered a choice between Indian and international dishes. The Indian selection included jeera rice, chana masala, vegetable kofta, and bhindi tamatar. For seafood lovers, there was a spread of grilled lobster, Tasmanian salmon, prawns, and scallops with coconut barley risotto.

The meal concluded with an array of Indian sweets, showcasing three traditional mithai: mango saffron peda, motichoor ladoo, and surti ghari pistachio. These desserts were presented on elegant plates with a maroon and gold design, leaving a memorable impression on the guests.
