Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Hiked by ₹15.50; Hotels, Restaurants Brace for Higher Costs
Oil marketing companies raise commercial LPG prices by ₹15.50 from October 1. Restaurants, hotels, and caterers face higher operational costs ahead of festivals.
New Delhi: Oil marketing companies (OMCs) have increased the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by ₹15.50 effective October 1, 2025. This adjustment comes after six consecutive months of price cuts, marking the first upward revision in the ongoing financial year.
With the hike, the cost of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has gone up to ₹1,595.50, compared to the earlier rate of ₹1,580. The revision is part of the OMCs’ monthly review, which considers global LPG price trends and fluctuations in foreign exchange rates.
City-Wise Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices
The latest revision has been applied across all major cities:
City New Price (₹) Increase (₹)
Delhi 1,595.50 +15.50
Kolkata 1,700.50 +16.00
Mumbai 1,547.00 +15.50
Chennai 1,754.50 +16.00
Impact on Hospitality and Food Businesses
The timing of the hike, just ahead of India’s festival season, is expected to strain small and medium-sized restaurants, hotels, and catering services. Since commercial LPG cylinders are a core requirement for daily cooking operations, industry experts believe the rise in costs may eventually be passed on to customers in the form of slightly higher food prices.
Hospitality associations have expressed concern, stating that while margins are already under pressure due to inflation, the hike could further increase the operational burden on food businesses.
Domestic LPG Cylinder Prices Remain Stable
In contrast to the increase in commercial LPG, the price of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged. In Delhi, the domestic cooking gas cylinder continues to cost ₹853, offering relief to households as kitchen budgets stay unaffected.
Other Fuel Price Revisions: ATF and Diesel
Alongside the LPG revision, OMCs also raised the price of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) by more than 3%. In Delhi, ATF now costs ₹93,766.02 per kilolitre, adding to the cost pressures faced by airlines.
Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged across India, as the government maintains a freeze on retail fuel prices to stabilize inflation.
Industry watchers predict that if global crude oil prices continue to remain firm, India may see further upward revisions in LPG and fuel prices in the coming months. Businesses in the hospitality sector are likely to adapt by recalibrating their pricing or seeking energy-efficient solutions to manage rising costs.
