Pre-wedding festivities for Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, and his fiancée Radhika Merchant have commenced with a traditional 'anna seva' ceremony in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The event saw Mukesh Ambani, Anant Ambani, Radhika Merchant, and other family members serving traditional Gujarati cuisine to villagers in Jogwad village near the Reliance Township.
Radhika Merchant's parents, Viren and Shaila Merchant, along with her maternal grandmother, also participated in the 'anna seva'. The initiative aimed to provide meals to approximately 51,000 local residents and will continue for several days.
The pre-wedding celebrations are expected to be grand, with a focus on showcasing Indian culture. Guests will be treated to traditional folk music performances, including one by popular Gujarati singer Kirtidan Gadhvi. Additionally, attendees will receive traditional scarves crafted by women artisans from Gujarat.
Reliance Foundation shared a video on Instagram highlighting the craftsmanship behind the Bandhani scarves for the wedding festivities. Nita Ambani, the founder of Reliance Foundation, personally interacted with the artisans, expressing her appreciation for their work.
Notable guests invited to the pre-wedding festivities include Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Bhutan's Queen Jetsun Pema, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, and Saudi Aramco chairperson Yasir Al Rumayyan, among others.
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's engagement took place in January 2023 at Antilia, the Ambani family's residence in Mumbai.
The Ambani children, Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, and Anant Ambani, have been actively involved in leading various ventures of Reliance Industries, overseeing sectors such as retail, digital services, energy, and materials businesses, and holding positions on the boards of key subsidiaries within the conglomerate.
