In a shocking revelation, a journalist from Himachal Pradesh, Neha Sharma, uncovered adulteration in black lentils purchased from a government ration depot. A video posted by Sharma showing the lentils turning the soaking water black has gone viral, raising concerns over food quality in the region.

In the video, she demonstrated how the black lentils, soaked overnight in water, shed their artificial color, causing the water to turn pitch black. By the next day, the lentils appeared greenish, further indicating adulteration.
Sharing the video on social media, Sharma tagged Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, urging the authorities to take immediate action. "If you are from Himachal, this video is for you. I feel something is wrong with this 'Kali Dal'," she remarked, emphasizing that the lentils were purchased from a government-regulated ration shop.
The video, captioned “Mamla gadbad hai” (This is fishy), has drawn widespread attention online. Many residents expressed concern over the safety and quality of food distributed through public supply chains.
