Kapil Sharma’s Café in Surrey Attacked Again: Second Shooting Incident in Less Than a Month

Popular Indian comedian and actor Kapil Sharma’s restaurant in Canada, Kap’s Café, has been the target of gunfire for the second time in less than a month, raising serious concerns about safety and motive behind these recurring attacks.

The most recent incident occurred early Thursday morning, at the café’s location near 85 Avenue and Scott Road in Surrey, British Columbia. According to initial reports, at least six bullet holes were found in the windows of the establishment, which were also shattered by the impact.

Surrey Police were quick to arrive at the scene and have launched a formal investigation. However, no suspects have been arrested as of now, and no injuries were reported in the attack.

Second Attack in Less Than 30 Days

This is not the first time the café has come under fire. On July 9, 2025, just weeks after its grand opening, the café was similarly targeted by unknown gunmen in the dead of night. The first incident, which also resulted in shattered glass and visible bullet holes, shocked fans and residents alike. Fortunately, no injuries occurred then either.

Following the first shooting, Harjit Singh Laddi, a known Khalistani extremist linked with the banned terror group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), claimed responsibility. He alleged that the attack was in response to past comments made by Kapil Sharma about Sikh Nihangs—an explanation that remains under investigation.

Reopened Amid Security Concerns

Despite the initial attack, Kap’s Café reopened on July 22, with added security and support from the local community. The business was reportedly functioning smoothly until the second round of gunfire shattered the sense of stability once again.

Kapil Sharma had issued a statement after the July attack, expressing concern but urging peace and unity. He has not yet issued a new statement following Thursday’s incident.

Investigations Underway

The Surrey Police have not yet confirmed whether the two attacks are directly linked or part of a larger pattern of targeted violence against Indian-origin businesses. Given the international links alleged in the first attack, the incident could potentially draw the attention of both Canadian and Indian intelligence agencies.

Authorities are also examining CCTV footage and forensic evidence from the latest attack. Meanwhile, local residents and the South Asian community in Surrey have voiced strong concerns about public safety and the rising threats posed to immigrant-owned businesses.
