Food safety dept raids Rameshwaram Cafe's Hyderabad branch found Expired Food, Hygiene Violations

Hyderabad - In a crackdown on food safety violations, the Telangana Food Safety Department raided several restaurants in Hyderabad on Thursday, uncovering concerning practices at popular eateries.

The raids, including one at the Madhapur branch of Rameshwaram Cafe, a well-known South Indian breakfast destination, revealed the use of expired food items and poor hygiene standards. Inspectors found expired curd, milk, and Urad Dal in the Rameshwaram Cafe kitchen, along with unlabeled ingredients like jaggery, white labia, and rice. Additionally, the cafe lacked proper waste disposal and failed to present required medical certificates for food handlers.

Another restaurant, Baahubali Kitchen, faced similar issues during the raid. Food safety officials discovered a significant cockroach infestation throughout the kitchen, including on stored food items. The restaurant lacked proper pest control records and maintained unsanitary conditions with stagnant water in the cleaning area. Furthermore, Baahubali Kitchen failed to display a valid FSSAI license or provide medical certificates for its staff.

On social media, the Telangana Food Safety Department expressed concern over the widespread nature of these violations. Their inspections revealed a pattern of outdated food products, poor hygiene practices, and inadequate staff training across several establishments.

These raids serve as a stark reminder of the importance of food safety regulations and highlight the need for stricter enforcement. Customers in Hyderabad are urged to be cautious when dining out and report any suspected violations to the authorities.
