Aditya Mangla Appointed CEO of Food Ordering and Delivery at Eternal (Formerly Zomato)

Eternal (formerly known as Zomato) has announced the appointment of Aditya Mangla as the new Chief Executive Officer of its food ordering and delivery business, effective July 6, 2025. Mangla will also be designated as a Senior Management Personnel (SMP). His appointment follows the completion of Rakesh Ranjan’s two-year tenure in the same role.

The decision, approved by the company’s board of directors, marks the start of a new chapter for Eternal’s core food delivery segment. Mangla, who has been with the company since March 2021, previously served as Head of Product and has led key teams including Supply and Customer Experience.

In an internal email to employees, Eternal’s founder Deepinder Goyal emphasized the importance of leadership that challenges conventional thinking.

“This isn’t just a change of roles. It’s a signal for the kind of leadership we need as we move into our next chapter. Leadership is not just about knowing what to do. It’s about learning how to see… We need leaders who listen not to reply, but to understand,” Goyal wrote.

Mangla is known within the organization for his candid approach and willingness to disagree openly—a trait Goyal highlighted as essential for Eternal’s evolving strategy.

“Aditya has also been one of the few leaders in the food delivery team who regularly runs into disagreements and pushes back with me. And I deeply value that,” Goyal added.

Before joining Eternal, Mangla built a career across various startups and technology-driven firms, taking on senior roles in product, marketing, and PnL management. His educational background includes a master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University, a PGP in Management from the Indian School of Business (where he received the Torchbearer Award), and an undergraduate engineering degree from Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology.

Ranjan, who steps down from the CEO role, will also cease to be part of the company’s senior management team from July 6, 2025.

The leadership transition reflects Eternal’s broader focus on building a culture that prioritizes critical thinking, open dialogue, and continuous innovation within India’s competitive food delivery space.
